Star Wars: The Force Awakens Action Figures and Vehicles at TRU
Hasbro’s new Star Wars: The Force Awakens action figures and vehicles (Amazon.com search*) aren’t quite as tough to find as you may suspect. While in New York on Monday I visited a ToysRUs and found several figures and vehicles available . . . and the figures on sale!
Maybe the coolest thing on the shelf was the repaint of the older Y-Wing Scout Bomber*, a modern Mini-Rig-like vehicle created by Hasbro’s toy designers. The new Y-Wing Scout Bomber* is significantly cheaper than buying the older release, but the decos are different so all of the completists out there will definitely want both.
UPDATE: Turns out the new bomber is slightly different. From Twitter:
@philipjreed The Scout Bomber is remolded – the back is closed, and there's a little lift for Chopper to stand on. Normal R2s can't fit.

@philipjreed I'm not ENTIRELY sure bout the little platform – I don't have a V1 Scout Bomber. It is different – the back is closed.

I picked one up for my kiddo (her first REAL action figure toy!) along with a Hera/Stormtrooper 2-pack. The back of the bomber is closed–but the rear panel and lift for Chopper come off! So you can slide a regular figure in there (rear-facing) if you wanted to.
It was a nice surprise that’s not advertised on the box and doesn’t seem to be highlighted anywhere. I’ll try an snap some pics tonight.
@Jay – That makes the bomber even better than the original version.
