“‘Star Wars’ toys deal signed” in 1997
Less than one year after this newspaper article ran Galoob was bought by Hasbro, bringing the Star Wars Micro Machines toys under the Hasbro umbrella. It’s amazing how Hasbro’s mistake in the early nineties (see this Fortune article from 1997) led to Hasbro relaunching Star Wars toys and even influenced the films, and I’m left wondering about the backroom deals that led to Hasbro buying Galoob in 1998. Someone out there: Get cranking on a book about this deal! I wanna know more!
