“Start a Video Collection That’s Out of this World.”
While going through Air Raiders comics yesterday (don’t ask) this ad for the Silverhawks cartoon on VHS caught my eye. Things were very different three decades ago, with toymakers and animators willing to take chances on their weirdest of new ideas. The eighties truly were a golden time for kids and toys, with the success of Masters of the Universe, Transformers, and G.I. Joe pushing businesses to take chances in search of the next billion dollar brand.

Silverhawks is underrated. I loved it as a kid. As an adult I feel it holds up better than Thundercats! This art is great!!

Let’s not forget my personal favorites M.A.S.K.! Those were some of my favorite toys growing up! Go-Bots was another cartoon/toy line that was close to my heart (the devastating loss of my beloved Turbo figure to a schoolyard bully is a tragic story for another day).
