Stripping the Chrome off of the new Transformers Generations Jetfire

Hasbro’s new Transformers Generations Jetfire toy (at Amazon.com*, at Entertainment Earth*) is starting to reach stores, and this morning I ran across this video that shows you how to strip the chrome off of the toy’s accessories and get the plastic down to flat red plastic.

Okay, I hadn’t realized that the chromed parts were causing some sort of disturbance/frustration with some of the fans out in the wild. Personally, I find the red chrome looks kinda cool (see these pics from July) so I’ll be leaving my Jetfire alone once he arrives.

  1. I asked Cheetimus for tips for dechroming when he posted pictures of that G2 custom he diid and I was happy to see the video. I almost ordered the Takara version to avoid the chrome.

I would rather add my own paint details and I’m worried the chrome is doomed for the hand weapons anyway.
