Sun-Man Action Figures in December, 1985 Issue of Jet Magazine
From the December 23, 1985 issue of Jet comes this full-page that’s all about the Sun-Man action figure. I posted a Sun-Man image from 1985 last month, and while running a Google magazine search for Mattel’s Masters of the Universe I ran across this single-page article and just had to share it. What I find depressing is that the article almost reads like it could have been written today. Thirty years and we’re still suffering the same problems in the US society. I know many things have improved, but some issues just never seem to get resolved.
As an extra bonus there was also this Sun-Man ad from a November, 1985 issue of Jet.

How cool and interesting. Now of course I have to track down a Sun-Man!
While I agree with her that challenging that “only Whites can be heroic [and] brave,” I question her assessment of He-Man’s intelligence. I think her son is already smarter than He-Man for recognizing (and understanding) his own exclusion from the line. That makes him smarter than anyone on (or producing) Eternia.
Pig Head is a great villain name. These guys need a Classics treatment!
