“Tales of the Spinjas” in 1989
This is a fun advertisement from a 1989 G.I. Joe comic book. Spinjas were Parker Brothers’ battling tops game of the eighties, and according to the Wikipedia entry these Parker Brothers toys were licensed from Japan. What makes this ad so special is that it’s a two-page comic story; it’s a bad story, yes, but the fact Parker Brothers even attempted this ad design is a win in my book.
