Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pop-Up Pizza Playset
As further proof that Playmates is going all out on their new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figure line I offer the upcoming Pop-Up Pizza Playset, shown in the mini-catalog included with the latest wave of action figures (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ooze Launchin’ Leo review here).
Where many action figure lines these days don’t even get one playset — DC Universe Classics, for example, never got a cool playset (and an updated Super Powers Hall of Justice playset would have been fabulous fun) — the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line already has two playsets! (And at 18-inches tall this one requires way less display space than the massive Secret Sewer Lair Playset*).
The playset doesn’t seem to be in stores yet, but once I see it and get an idea of the price point and actual size — and figure out where I would display it — I may just have to grab this as a home for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys. The Shellraiser (review here) makes an outstanding display piece but a vehicle can never really compare to a neat playset. (Except when the vehicle is a playset, but that’s a different situation entirely.)

This looks pretty awesome. I fell through the cracks with tmnt. I remember anthrax having them painted on thier jacksons when they where an indy comic but they went thermo-nuclear commercial before I found out what got them there. Totally my deal I know.
Actually it is out, Philip. I saw it at Toys R Us over the weekend. I decided to pass because I assumed TRU was likely overpriced and I’m not quite sure if I want to get the playsets yet. But it did look nice and I love the smaller playsets.
Reminds me of fond times as a youngster and getting the small GI Joe playsets that could be had for about $10.
@Newt – Thanks for the alert! The TRU locations in Austin are all a little out of my way so I don’t visit them often. But it sounds like it’s time I make the trip and check the shelves.
Wow.. this looks fantastic! I haven’t bought any of the vehicles or playsets yet, but that might have to change once I see one of these on the shelves.
@Gabe – The two vehicles I have reviewed have both been very neat. I have no reason to expect this playset to be anything but a fun design . . . and I’ll let you know once I’ve got one and have played with it a bit.
This is a definite buy for me as I had to pass on the Sewer Lair because I have nowhere to put it.
Oh wow, I just looked at the sewer lair. That thing looks like arkham city! I wonder how these playsets would look with power attack batman figures.
@Openchallenge – I never even considered using Power Attack Batman toys with the Secret Sewer Lair. I suspect it wouldn’t work wonderfully; the Turtles figures feel too small for Power Attack Batman to work nicely with them. But if I had the playset I would certainly give it a shot!
