Testors Galax IV Hovercraft Advertisement from 1978
Until I ran across this 1978 newspaper ad I hadn’t even heard of the Testors Galax IV Hovercraft toy before. Once I saw the ad, though, I just knew that I had to track down information on the toy. What, I thought, could this even be?
Well, I soon found Peter Hirschberg’s page devoted to the Galax IV, and everything I see there makes me say: Woah! This thing looks amazing! Powered by “glow fuel,” this motorized toy comes from a time before today’s Bluetooth-guided and battery-powered toys. According to Hirschberg’s info: “It had no controls, and would freefloat about 1” above smooth surfaces . . . “ Awesome!
Take a quick look at the ad, and then visit Peter Hirschberg’s page devoted to the Galax IV for scans of the instructions, an ad sheet, and more about this seventies toy.
