TFW2005 Report on Unofficial Transformers Toys Banned at Botcon
Very interesting developments in the world of unofficial Transformers toys as Botcon (website, Twitter) announced that no 3rd party toys will be allowed at the convention. See this post at TFW2005 for info on the situation.
There seems to be more information online, but until I get home from Vegas the best I can do is point everyone at the info at TFW2005. I’m a little disappointed that I won’t be able to buy these unofficial toys at Botcon, but I can’t say I’m too shocked since we heard months ago that Takara was taking action against the 3rd party products (first mentioned here).
I will definitely be digging deeper into this when I get home. Anyone have any links to info I should read?

Since all the 3rd party stuff are not allowed in the dealer room, I’m guessing you can obtain some at parts parties that happens in the evenings when the dealer room is closed. Every year, there’s people selling stuff out of their hotel rooms. Just follow the crowd to these rooms.
@Simon – Thanks for the info, Simon. This will be my first Botcon and I’m not completely sure what to expect.
Phil, the Devastator was the step over the line that made Hasbro finally crack down.
@DoctorKent – That doesn’t shock me. The Devastator/Hercules is a really nice toy. Quite durable, easy to transform, and looks great.
I do not own any 3rd Party figures, but there are a lot of really nice ones. That said its about damn time Hasbro took a stance on this stuff.
Hasbro is just sick of getting their asses handed to them by the 3rd Party toys you see nowadays. Sorry Hasbro.
