That Sqwert I Mentioned Yesterday
Yesterday, in my review of Troy Stith’s Virulentos, I mentioned a Jumungo Sqwert that I had customized. What’s a Sqwert? It’s a little vinyl toy and a couple of years ago I snagged one of the DIY versions.
Well, some Super Sculpey, Dremel work, and a Munny TV were all used to turn him into this:
This piece is over two years old now — I did this work in spring 2007 — and it’s rough, but the overall concept still looks good. If I were to attempt this today I know I could get a smoother and better result. Still, not bad for one of my first attempts at customizing a blank toy.
Nicely done. It makes me think of a demented Gary, Spongebob’s pet snail.
Clark you nailed it on the head! I was thinking “Gary” as soon as I saw it! MEOW!
Good eye, man.
And good job, Phil! I’d like to see more of your artwork featured on this site. Heck, if I can stick my crap up on my blog, I know you can post your pieces on yours! I think everyone here is receptive to seeing more!
Thanks, guys. I’ll toss some stuff up every now and then, I promise.
