“The biggest obstacle to creativity is fear.”
I really should create a tag for “loomis” here at battlegrip.com, because the more time I spend poking through the past the more articles I find in which Bernie Loomis makes an appearance. In this December 22, 1977, newspaper article Bernie Loomis, then president of Kenner, is quoted as saying one of the greatest things any leader in a creative field can ever wish for his staff:
“I want the people at Kenner to wake up feeling happy. The biggest obstacle to creativity is fear.”
The article provides a glimpse at the toy industry of the seventies, and toys such as Baby Alive, Stretch Armstrong, Play-Doh, and Star Wars all receive mentions. The Star Wars “Early Bird Kit” even gets some mention, though unlike yesterday’s post there’s no word on the success or failure of the “Early Bird Kit.”
