The Chase is On!
Yep, Tyco’s Transformers Racing Set from 1985 basically proves that we were idiot kids ready to buy anything Transformers-related back at the line’s peak. Natron and Freezon? Really, Hasbro? These are the two “Transformers” you shoved in the box? I remember wanting this when I was a kid; looks like I’m lucky I never got the set because looking back this looks pretty dumb.
Is that commercial as extremely cheesy as I think it is? There’s absolutely nothing in the commercial that makes me want to run out and track one of these sets down. Maybe I’m being too picky and I should just sit back and enjoy this melding of slot car racing and Transformers.
Crazy! I just saw these at an antique show, the guy was asking 40 bucks per car/robot. He was mostly selling older Matchbox cars, so perhaps these are popular in that scene for their novelty factor. I actually think they’re kind of cool…I mean, they glow in the dark!
