“The Doubt Factory” by Paolo Bacigalupi Releasing in October
I wonder if there’s any way that I can convince the book’s publisher to ship me a copy of Paolo Bacigalupi’s next book, The Doubt Factory (hachettebookgroup.com, Amazon.com*) early. You know, so that I can read the book and have a review ready to go just as soon as the book hits store shelves.
I’ve loved Bacigalupi’s work so much that I’m ready to buy anything with his name on it, even if I have no clear idea of what the book is even about. Hell, I ordered a copy of The End is Nigh* mainly because it included a new Bacigalupi story (fortunately, it includes several other fun stories) and I can admit that I was all set to buy The Doubt Factory before I even read the description.
Yeah, I’m a fan. But after writing works like Ship Breaker*, Pump Six and Other Stories*, and The Windup Girl* then Bacigalupi has earned my respect and support. He’s easily my favorite newly-discovered author of the last three years. (I can pinpoint when I first discovered Bacigalupi’s work because it during an unexpected Madison trip when I first found Pump Six and Other Stories*. That trip was totally worth it for that book alone!)
