The Living Steel Roleplaying Game

The 1988 October/November issue of Space Gamer magazine has a real treat on the back cover: Check out this full page ad for Leading Edge’s Living Steel roleplaying game! Now this isn’t a game that I ever played, but this exact ad — which appeared in a few different places back in the late eighties — always caught my attention and made me want to know more about the game.

Released as both a hardcover and a boxed set (the boxed set came first), that simple ad really grabs the kid inside me and screams “track down the game, idiot!” The artwork has a wonderful eighties vibe and the little bit of text makes this sound like the sort of post-apocalyptic setting I would still find entertaining.

“Aliens stalk through the ruins of the Starguild Citadel . . .
Chaos and madness rule a devastated world . . .
And a small band of warriors and survivors are the last hope for a shattered Humanity, because they carry the dream that makes them Living Steel.”
