“The Man Who Invented Saturday Morning” Has Arrived!
The Fredericksburg, VA Free-Lance Star from June 4, 1988 is in my thoughts at this exact moment because Amazon delivered my copy of The Man Who Invented Saturday Morning* today. This business book, listed as being published in 1987, is jumping to the top of my reading list because the title essay is all about Bernie Loomis, former Kenner president who played a key role in many toy industry developments of the seventies and eighties.
The Free-Lance Star issue in question includes a review of the book, and in reading the review I am quite happy with how it closes:
“Owen’s essays are amusing casual reading. I recommend this book to anyone.”
I’m likely to start with the Loomis essay, but if it’s as entertaining as it sounds there’s no way I won’t find myself reading through the entire book. I’m kinda tempted to skip work right now and start reading . . .
