This advertisement for the Rifts Manhunter* roleplaying game supplement comes from a mid-nineties issue of Shadis magazine, right from a time when the collectible card game boom was overtaking and destroying the roleplaying game scene. The Rifts roleplaying game is one of those titles that divide RPG groups, with some looking down on the game as others jump in and absolutely love the gonzo action and ridiculous fun of it all. Personally, I think the sheer insane joy of the Rifts setting overcomes any oddities in the mechanics of the game, and running across this old ad for the Rifts Manhunter sourcebook takes me back to an age when I had completely different thoughts about how games were made and sold.
