“The Perfect Gift for the Holidays!!!”
The fifty cents I paid for that Robotech comic last week was worth the price just for the ads hiding inside the book. I’ve already shared two of the ads from the comic (first ad, second ad), and here’s a third to start your weekend off right.
One of the best parts of these old ads for comic subscriptions has to be the listed prices. In this case, Comico was offering six Robotech comics for $9, which works out to $1.50/issue. What’s a six-issue comic book subscription cost us these days, twice that? More? The paper and printing may be better in comics these days, but it’s tough to really be a casual comic reader anymore. Hell, even I skip almost all comics today and only grab the occasional trade paperback.
We need comic prices lower!!!

I picked up a few cheap Robotech comics a year ago. I loved the subscriptions ad as well. I have to use that somewhere in some project. Also had an ad for the Matchbox toys. Need to grab more of these comics and see what else is in them. Because the actual comic is pretty bad. 🙂
