“They transform into robots and back again” in 1985

February 12, 1985. Found in a GEM Department Stores advertisement in the Honolulu Star Bulletin newspaper, what strikes me as most important about this ad for the Transformers Jumpstarters toys is the date; that’s very early in 1985 for the Jumpstarters to be available. I always forget that the Transformers toys had been on shelves for some time before I first encountered the toys in August of 1984, and the second year of releases always feel to me as if they were in stores a lot faster than they really were.
