ThirdWay Reviews “Minority Report” in 2002
After yesterday’s look at a 2002 newspaper review of the Minority Report film* I thought it might be fun for another opinion. To keep things interesting, I directed my attention to Google’s magazine archives . . . and was instantly rewarded with an unexpected and entertaining review.
From the September 2002 issue of ThirdWay magazine, this review seems fairly straightforward to start. Unsurprisingly, especially considering the time it was written, the review even touches on how the film’s politics mirror those of our world:
“The film’s Attorney General echoes recent disturbing developments in actual US policy when he defends this extraordinary abuse by saying: ‘That which keeps us safe will also keep us free.'”
And that’s where things take a surprising twist. You see, ThirdWay is a Christian magazine that dives into current events. The 2002 Minority Report review dives into a discussion of the spiritual threads in the film, making this review a bit more of an unexpected find than I had at first realized.
