“Three Free Baseball Cards” from Hostess in 1976
From a 1976 issue of the UFO Flying Saucers comic book comes this Hostess ad encouraging kids to collect the 150 different trading cards offered on snack boxes. Longtime readers of battlegrip.com may remember the similar 1978 offer from Hostess, and seeing these two ads together tells me one thing: The promotion was at least successful once.
I miss when cereal, snacks, and assorted products included trading cards that were designed to be cut off of the packaging.

I always loved Hostess ads. The Marvel/DC ones set the benchmark, of course, but even the non-superhero ones were great. These and grape-flavored bubblegum pretty much defined my early imaginings of the life of American kids…!
