Tim Powers’ “Hide Me Among the Graves” Limited Edition Coming from Charnel House
Author Tim Powers is insanely popular (in some circles), but for me my favorite of his books continues to be the pirate fantasy On Stranger Tides*. A fantastic read — I last read it in 2006 when I was working on the vs. Pirates roleplaying game — On Stranger Tides remains a book I always recommend to anyone looking for a historical fiction work with just a bit of the unreal.
Well, now it looks like I need to give Hide Me Among the Graves a try. But not the limited edition from Charnel House, even though it looks cool, because I’m just not that much of a Powers fan. But the story itself sure sounds fun:
Tim Powers’ new novel will delight lovers of Victorian fantasy as well as Nephilim vampire lore. John Polidori, Lord Byron’s ex-doctor––dead, and a vampire, is taking possession of the Rossetti family. Edward John Trelawny leads the hunt to capture the Nephilim before they destroy London. This is the mid 1800’s as only Powers can tell it. And this is Tim’s finest hour.
Still, I can totally see how the limited edition of 124 copies won’t last long. Even at the $350 price.
