Todd McFarlane in Toys and American Culture: An Encyclopedia
It looks like I need to add the $100 Toys and American Culture: An Encyclopedia* book to my shopping list. The three pages of information on Todd McFarlane (and McFarlane Toys) gives me a great idea of what I can expect to find in the book, and based on this snapshot of the book’s 420-pages this is a must own title.
Of McFarlane Toys, we discover what happened to the “Todd Toys” name and learn that McFarlane’s toys “created a media sensation at the Toy Fair and stole the spotlight from the toy manufacturing powerhouses of corporate America.” Additionally, McFarlane Toys is credited here with inspiring artists to create their own toys and the birth of the designer toy scene. Fascinating stuff and I definitely need to get my hands on this massive book.
