Tomy Fashion Plates in 1978
Here’s a 1978 newspaper advertisement for the fans of Tomy’s Fashion Plates toy. I shared a 1983 ad for the same toy a few months ago, so the best thing we can do is compare the prices and check them against the inflation calculator for an idea of how well Fashion Plates held their value between 1978 and 1983.
- 1978 – $5.99 sale price, which is the equivalent of $22.39 today.
- 1983 -Â $4.97 sale price, which is the equivalent of $12.14 in today’s dollars.
That’s not a great showing for the toy. And if we look at the Fashion Plates toys today (Amazon.com search*) we find that the toys are relatively more expensive now than they were when this ad was new.
