Top 10 Reviews – 1st Quarter 2009
I was poking at stats this morning and thought I’d share the results. I’m a bit surprised by some of the entries — like Callgrim coming in as the most visited review and The Corps toy even appearing on the list — but I’m not really going to allow these results to affect what I review here.
- Glyos System Figures – Callgrim
- Transformers Quintesson Prosecutor
- The Corps Attack Fighter
- DC Universe Justice League Unlimited Bizarro
- G.I. Joe Ultimate Battle Pack, Part 1. H.I.S.S.
- Transformers Universe G1 Series Bumblebee
- Transformers Animated Voyager Class Grimlock
- Star Wars Dark Trooper
- Masters of the Universe Classics Beast Man
- Marvel Universe Spider-Man
I’m also surprised that the list is primarily dominated by new toys that can be found in any Wal-Mart. I had half expected that reviews of older toys, and limited-run designer toys, would get more traffic than they do. Callgrim is a weird case, and I’m sure it’s only at the top of the list because the review was linked at the Callgrim blog.
Any ideas why retro toy reviews — and designer toy reviews — aren’t getting as much traffic as the completely new, mass-market toys?
Well, it’s easier to search for a review of a Marvel Universe fig that’s just coming out than say, MASK Condor. Not many people would be actively searching for Mr. Hocus Pocus Hologram on a regular basis.
Also, sometimes, we read reviews for shopping tips. So I don’t think it’s too surprising with the list.
It is difficult to say what draws the traffic. You spend a couple of hours taking pics and writing text – no feedback. Post the most basic review with some scathing comments on a DC Infinite Hero, people will flock to call you bad names.
