Toy Sale in 1935
Here’s a fun 1935 newspaper ad that is worth a few moments of your time. The Buck Rogers watch for $0.79 is neat and all, but the true winner in this ad has to be the “futuristic pistol” that’s priced at only $0.16. $0.16!!! That’s crazy. Or is it? A quick inflation calculator check shows us that $0.16 in 1935 is the equivalent of $2.79 today. A cheap gun, but not as ridiculously cheap as it first seems.
