“Toys for Girls and Boys” in 1976
Every now and then, a newspaper discovery shows me something I’d never seen before. For example, last month’s ad for the Testors Galax IV hovercraft was my first introduction to that toy . . . and yeah, I’m still watching online for a perfect specimen.
And then there are ads like this 1976 surprise that includes Kenner’s SSP cars, Ideal’s Evel Knievel cycle, and a game by Milton Bradely, all of which sit there to distract me from the real discovery: Dee Dee Beanibabs, something that looks like a Beanie Baby ancestor. What surprises me most is how little info there is about the toys online. Okay, who has more details on the Beanibabs to share with the rest of us?
