ToysRUs is 24 Hours

After enough e-mails telling me about it I decided to hit TRU and get a look at how their week of being open 24 hours is going. Kinda slow, to be honest, and the fact that the parking lot lights are off didn’t help traffic to the store.

Inside I found a lot of the shelves pretty picked over. The Marvel Universe selection was down to a few 2-packs and a Black Panther while the Transformers selection was down to mostly movie stuff. That Transformers Universe 3-pack (see below) would have been tempting if the toys hadn’t looked slapped together and a bit crappy.

Gormitti at “Buy 1 Get 2 Free” almost grabbed me — these Battle Beast-like toys are always tempting — but then I remember the two I own have no articulation.

Androidz would have been grabbed except this TRU doesn’t have them on sale; most TRU stores have these marked way down indicating the end of the line.

I finally saw the Mego-style Frankenstein but as with all of the toys in this series I looked at him but then left him there. These look cool online in pics but every time I see this style of toy in the store I leave without it.

Generally, not many people and a lot of picked over shelves. So either everyone hit at midnight or this experiment isn’t working. Either way, it was fun to go into TRU so early in the day.

  1. Yeah, didn’t know they were doing this. Though our TRU’s are in bad neighborhoods, I don’t want to get shanked on a toy run.

Also that pack of old TF scouts is at least twice as expensive as it should be, otherwise I’s be all over it.

  2. Last time I was in my local TRU the bones had already been picked-clean of most of the stock. It makes me wonder just how little will be left if they’re open 24-hours… I bet it’s almost as much fun as the 9PM sale Walmart are having on Xmas Eve…
