Transformers Action Cards Only $0.79/each at JCPenny in 1985
December 13, 1985. Milton Bradley’s Transformers Action Cards (see the TFWiki) were non-sport Transformers trading cards back in the eighties, even if the cards were packaged in an unusual manner: Unlike most trading cards, these were blister packed instead of packed into fin seals. Weird, right? Yep. Weird. Anyway, the cards go for big bucks these days — a price of $10 for a single sealed pack isn’t out of line — so seeing this JCPenny newspaper ad from the Los Angeles Times where the cards are only $0.79/pack sure makes today’s prices seem especially painful. Less than a buck a pack? I’d drop $20 on the cards without thinking at this price!
