Transformers and Star Wars on Sale in 1986
These ads are from the Spokesman-Review in 1986, which makes the Star Wars: Power of the Force action figures shown some of the very last offered at retail. $1.97 each figure in 1986 translates to $4.19 in today’s dollars. Tell you what, gang, anyone selling these figures today contact me because I’ll happily pay $25/figure if they’re 1986 carded fresh. That’s a great deal for the seller, right?

On the Transformers side we see Hot Rod and Trypticon. Too bad this Fred Meyer ad used photos and not illustrations; the Google newspaper archives don’t give us the greatest images as it is and pics really don’t translate well. Still, $40 for Trypticon sounds like a great price to me.
