Transformers Toys at Wal-Mart
Stopped at Wal-Mart this morning to see what’s up, and the first thing I noticed was that they dramatically increased the size of their Transformers selection; the toys are in two different locations and both displays are quite large.
A wide variety of movie toys, but Generations has been reduced and is basically down to just Dirge and Thunderwing. I guess we can tell which two figures are unloved in the Generations series.
Are you planning to get any of the movie figures? I’m torn on Shockwave, but I actually do want to get the Megatron.
@Mario – I grabbed a Powerglide last week. I’m skipping Shockwave because he just looks wrong to me.
sad thing is Dirge & Thunderwing are better than 90% of any movie toy…
Yeah, I got all excited with the new movie stuff, and now I’m regretting almost every purchase. Quality seems to be way down. Still haven’t opened some of it, so I’m probably jumping to conclusions.
Woo-Hoo! Stopped by the WalMart aacross town after my RPG session yesterday, and found not one, nut TWO Warpaths on the peg there! I sangged both and threw the other on Ebay to cover the costs.
Actually, there may have been more than two, but I didnt really look that hard, the two I grabbed were on the front of one peg, and I was outta there as soon as I grabbed em! (Nearly broke, so didnt want to end up spending more than that $25)
I finally found Shockwave this morning. I randomly found a Warpath on Wednesday last week. Still no sightings of the previous wave. Funky.
I went to Walmart to look at these guys, and I could not believe how many $20 transformers they have. They are very confident that they’re going to move these I guess. Looking them over I do think they are pretty decent looking figures, especially considering I don’t like the movie designs very much. Megatron looks to be a huge improvement over his first two movie designs, except I’m not a huge fan of the skinny body with wide hips look.
I went ahead and picked up a generations Warpath, but have not decided if I’m going to keep him yet.
Warpath? Damn, Austin seems to suck when it comes to new releases. Fortunately I ordered a Warpath online, so I will be getting one (eventually).
@Talyn – I was stunned to see Dirge warming the pegs. I thought everyone loved the Seeker mold. Maybe it’s just me.
I guess I need to get that Powerglide open soon to get an idea of whether or not he’s any good.
I picked up the new Starscream over the weekend. I like the look of his decepticon “tattoos”.
@Phil – remember that all the people were SOOOO SAD about Dirge being a Botcon exclusive? “He’ll sell like hotcakes!” Uh-huh.
I picked up DOTM Skyhammer. Highly recommended.
I went ahead and opened Warpath. I really like him. The problem is now I think I need a Megatron (it’s sad, the only Megatron I have is the animated leader that was black and purple), and that I should go back and get the Generations Megs. Anyone have that figure, have an opinion?
@DoctorKent – Does Skyhammer have one of those movie-like faces? I think the bizarre heads/faces are one of my biggest complaints with the movie-style toys.
@clark – I can’t help with the Megatron question, but it’s great to hear that Warpath is good. Have you got some pics?
I went back to get the Generations Megatron, but Scourge ended up catching my attention more, so I got him instead. I don’t have any nostalgic feelings towards the character, but the figure is great.
@Philip-watch for a Warpath review, probably in the next week.
