Transformers Trypticon at Children’s Palace in 1986
November 9, 1986. The Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper of this day included an incredible Children’s Palace advertisement that I am sure to turn to again, but for now I’d like to direct your attention to this $49.99 price for Trypticon, one of the coolest Transformers bases of the eighties. I remember wanting Trypticon as a kid but never getting one, and looking at the $49.99 price made me ask: How does that compare to the newer Titans Return Trypticon* toy? Well, a quick look at the inflation calculator tells us that the older Trypticon toy was relatively less expensive than today’s version; that $49.99 of 1986 dollars translates into $113.37 today. I guess I should have used this argument with my parents back when I was a kid.
