“Unfinished Business” for Star Wars Fans

As part of the research for my new book about Kenner’s 1998 Star Wars Expanded Universe subline (now on Kickstarter) I’ve been tracking down every article I can that’s in any way related to those toys. Today I’d like to share this ToyFare article from December, 2002 in which we’re given a peek at the unproduced Kenner action figures of 1985.

The entire article is fun, but for our purposes it’s definitely the intended villain for that line — Atha Prime — that’s most important to the Expanded Universe figures of 1998.

“Atha Prime’s look was based on an unused Jedi rendering of the Emperor’s Royal Guard; the basic design resurfaced years later as the Imperial Sentinel in Dark Horse Comics’ Dark Empire and as a figure in the 1998 Expanded Universe line.”
