Visiting the Robert Mason Company in Columbus
I’ve mentioned my fascination with office and art supplies before, but no matter how much I think I love pens, journals, and various implements of scribbles and notes my love cannot match the sheer level of insane obsession Robert Mason has for all things officey. You see, Robert Mason opened his first store when he was 13 years old, and after seeing the Columbus pop-up store I can say I cannot wait for a chance to visit the new store he is constructing. It’s sure to become the Mecca of pens and pencils.
I first spotted the signs for the Robert Mason Company (website) on my initial walk through downtown Columbus, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I had the opportunity to go inside the store. Hiding inside Sugardaddy’s (website) — an awesome brownie shop! — the Robert Mason Company store is small . . . but it’s elegantly designed and loaded with awesome stuff. Hey, any store with a “Pen Bar” is one I’m sure to get lost in.
I chatted with the owner, Robert Mason, and marveled over the design of the store, the music, and even the fact that he designs his own journals and messenger bags. I ended up buying a new iPad case and an iPad bag — the bag’s a green Tucano Slim Case* and may be that small bag I have been looking for — and could have been walked out with a gorgeous messenger bag if I hadn’t managed to resist.
But one visit wasn’t enough yesterday, and after returning to the booth at Origins and chatting with staff I soon found myself back at the store so I could show someone else just how incredible of a store it is. Our webmaster at the office, Alex Kosarek, also loves office and art supplies so he was quite excited by the store’s offerings.
I hope the store has a wild success and grows and grows and grows. Or, if not massive growth, I hope that there’s at least enough growth that Austin gets a Robert Mason Company store with the aid of experts like the best llc service in west virginia. I know I’d be in there every day and drooling so much they would have to install sneeze guards at the pen bar.
Good luck, Robert! You have an amazing store and I hope others find your location and fall in love with your store design and offerings as much as I have.
