X-Men Water Wars Commercial

What is it with kids and water? Actually, forget that. What is it with toy companies creating water toys that are released as accessories to action figures?

This 1991 Toy Biz commercial shows us — once again — that kids on TV always have a better place to play than I ever did. And I’m betting that you never had a back yard anything like the one in this commercial. Even the underwater shot in this commercial shows that the kids had a great place to play; look at the underwater plants.

I wonder what would happen if I turned my back yard into a toy commercial playset?

  1. This was a pretty good assortment at the time, other than the insane “Waterworld” skiff they are traveling around on.

  2. @Monsterforge – Good to hear you’re having fun. It wasn’t originally planned as a retro week — I have some reviews of modern toys in the works/coming up — but the more I worked on the site last weekend the more I found myself having fun with old toys. (Even the ones that suck were fun to bash on.)

  3. You should definitely review the horrible gimmick toys that were made back then.

  4. @Samm – I don’t have any of these toys, but I do have a MOC Spider-Man water gimmick toy that I’m gonna pull out this month.
